The free beaches

"Free" on Curaçao means no one collects money at the gate — it doesn’t mean the day costs nothing. On most of these bays the loungers are rented by locals, the toilet takes a dollar coin, and shade is whatever the manchineel trees offer (don’t sit under those). The trade is real: the paid beaches sell you raked sand and facilities; the free ones give you the same sea with fewer towels around you. Below, every no-fee bay in driving order from Westpunt down — what’s genuinely free at each, and what still costs money, sits on every card and page.
